Farewell, Spring 2013 Classes!

The end of the semester is always bitter-sweet for me. On one hand, like you, I am tired from the semester and need rest. But, on the other hand, I know I'll miss my students and my classes.

I'm sure they'll be breaking news involving some aspect of media law, or something that will make me look forward to class so I can share it with all of you. Your voices, your faces, your reactions will all come to mind, until I realize that the semester is over!

I was at graduation today -- what a beautiful day and event. Best wishes to all those who graduated. I hope you keep in touch.

For those who'll still be around campus in the coming semesters, I hope you'll stop by and visit me from time to time and let me know how you're doing.

Thanks for the great semester. I won't soon forget our conversations about the meaning and scope of the First Amendment, the Boston Marathon bombings, intellectual property and obscenity.

And, a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who wrote a class critique. Some of you wrote very nice things about me, which was very humbling for me. I am very lucky to have had such great students. Many of you gave me valuable constructive criticism helping me improve as an educator.

Truly, the honor and privilege has been mine. Best wishes.

I had every intention of doing the media law gang sign when I got to the video board, but I got too nervous and forgot.

I never thought I'd say this, but I loved Media Law! I think that is direct result of your passion and knowledge of the subject - along with your ability to make seemingly boring information interesting and timely. I'll be keeping an eye on your tweets when free speech and other media law topics are in the news. I may even chime in from time to time! Thanks for a great semester and keep doing what you're doing!

Thank you for a great semester, Prof. Martinez. I really enjoyed it! Though I'm happy the semester is done with, I know I'm gonna miss your class. I'll be here for one more semester, the fall, and I'll make sure to drop by your office.
