As we celebrate the end of the summer session, I'd like to leave you with a few thoughts as I bid you farewell.
First, thank you very much for your participation on this blog. I found your comments to be especially thoughtful and insightful, and I enjoyed reading them.
I hope you reflect on all the big news during our time together -- the Supreme Court's decisions on the Voting Rights Act and on DOMA/Proposition 8; the continuing story of Edward Snowden and the NSA leaks; the ongoing political battle in the Texas Legislature on abortion restrictions. All of these stories touched on media law topics, and they will surely be discussed for years to come.
I hope you can use what you've learned about media law and ethics to apply to your career. You can also evaluate the performance of the news media and determine if they are acted ethically, or not.
Lastly, this is always a bittersweet time of the semester for me because, like you, I am weary from the semester and need my rest, but I also know that I'll miss you and our discussions. I'm sure something will happen in news that will make me pause and think to myself, "I can't wait to share this with my class... oh, wait." Sad face.
But let's not end on a downer! It's been an exceptionally good semester. Thanks for your participation. Best wishes to a great summer and beyond!

I enjoyed your class very much! I was a little nervous coming into your class thinking that I'd never pass a law class. But you made it understandable and fun.
