Farewell, Spring 2015 classes!

As we celebrate the end of the semester, I want to thank you all for a great semester.

I've enjoyed our class discussions and discussions online about Media Law topics throughout the semester. Your insight, inquisitiveness and desire to learn were greatly appreciated by me. After all, I can't do what I do if it weren't for you.

For my face-to-face class, I was impressed with your intellectual curiosity and hard work. We had some difficult discussions, but we also had some fun along the way, I think.

For my MC 4301 Online course, I'm thankful for the online community that we created. This was my second online only class, and I'm grateful for the experience. I learned a lot and appreciate how my online students engaged with the course material.

For my Honors 3396E class, I enjoyed watching you grapple with the hard questions about free speech and free press and see you evolve and grow. Our discussions helped me see these issues with a fresh perspective and made me reconsider some of my own perspectives.

Congratulations to those that are graduating today. I'll be at graduation today, and most likely in August and December, so I'll be cheering you on, whenever you graduate.

Much thanks to those that submitted class critique essays. I look forward to reading the essays and using them to improve.

Lastly, this is always a bittersweet time of the semester for me because, like you, I am weary from the semester and need my rest, but I also know that I'll miss you and our discussions. I'm sure something will happen in the news that will make me pause and think to myself, "I can't wait to share this with my class... oh, wait." Sad face.

But let's not end on a downer! It's been a lot of fun this semester. Thanks for your participation. Best wishes for a great summer break and beyond!

Dr. Martinez, I enjoyed taking your class. Although it was a bit challenging, it was one of my favorites. Thanks.

Dr. Martinez,

Thank you for providing such an amazing opportunity online! I really enjoyed the class and am surprised at how much I learned (law is not a strong suit of mine).
I really enjoyed and appreciated the structure of the class and thought the amount of work required to excel in this format was really well balanced.

Thanks again!

I was surprised how much I enjoyed your class. All aspects were invigorating, but I found the video lectures particularly helpful. I learned mucho in a most pleasant way!
