Welcome to my Media Law blog. I use this blog as a teaching tool that
allows me to comment on current events and topics related to media law.
It also allows you to participate in discussions involving media law
topics.
As the name of the blog suggests, I want you to use this forum to
speak freely about the topics that we will discuss during the semester.
We will discuss some controversial topics -- and often, we may not
agree. You may not agree with me, or you may not agree with your
classmates.
But this is a forum of expression, so you have the right to express
your opinion. My opinion is not correct just because I'm the instructor.
You should feel free to disagree with me.
Think about this as the First Amendment in practice.
A few ground rules, please. Some of our discussions may become
heated. While you have the right to express your opinion, I urge you to
be considerate of others, especially those with whom you disagree. Avoid
attacking or belittling others just because you disagree with their
opinions. And, I suggest you double check your comment for grammar,
clarity and sensitivity before you post.
With your comment, please include your
first name and the initial of your last name, and your class (11 a.m. class, 3:30 p.m. class, or Online class). I
need this information to keep track of your comments for participation points.
You can get an idea of how I used this blog in past semesters,
though you are not responsible for reading or commenting on previous
blog entries.
Now, let's start with something light.
Share with us a favorite book, movie, TV show, song, etc., that is
related to law, then tell us why it's your favorite and include a brief
summary of the work.
I'll go first. In past semesters, the movie I would call my favorite
was "Twelve Angry Men" -- the original with Henry Fonda. But in 2012,
I saw Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" and was thoroughly impressed. The
movie recounts President Lincoln's effort to encourage Congress to pass
the Thirteen Amendment, which abolished slavery. A
movie about passing a constitutional amendment? How perfect for a media
law prof!
I look forward to reading your comments.

1 – 200 of 212 Newer› Newest»My favorite movie that is related to law would also have to be 12 Angry Men. In this film, there is a murder trial. 11 of the Jurors believe the defendant is guilty, however, one believes that he is innocent. The juror who believes in the defendants innocence manages to convince his fellow jurors to alter their opinion by focusing on the small details of the case that were originally over looked. My name is Amber Daniels and I am in the 3:30 class.
My name is Erin Kirkwood (11 am class) and my favorite movie is “On The Basis of Sex” in which the audience follows Ruth Ginsburg as an attorney and new mother where she takes on a series of obstacles in her fight for equal rights while taking on a big case with her husband.
My name is Chris Kallman 11am class and although this movie is not necessarily pertaining to the law i recently watched Shawshank Redemption which follows the story of a man who convicted for murder and his time in prison. He uses his skills from outside to help transform the prison from a hellish nightmare to a place that is actually conducive to the rehabilitation of criminals despite the corrupt nature of the prison. This movie really sheds a light on some of the flaws within prisons and provides a great emotional story.
Hello my name is Camilo M (3:30 class) and to be honest I haven't seen many movies or shows related to law. The Closest thing I've watched is "Better Call Saul." While it is not 100% accurate to real law I do feel like it gives a good sense of the law and order culture with its own take.
Hello my name is Sydney S. (3:30 class) and I would have to say that my favorite law related form is media is Law and Order SVU. I always watched this with my dad and now my roommate and enjoy getting to see the different types of things the agents have to take on and work on uncovering.
Hello, my name is Foster Milburn (3:30 p.m. class) and what comes to mind is the "Imitation Game," based on Alan Turning, whose contributions as a mathematician and computer scientist led to the victories in WWll. Yet, because he was gay, his efforts were met with chemical castration, the punishment usually given to rapists, made him sick and he eventually committed suicide. This is a particular example specifically for LGBTQ equality, but is comedic in that in ways the world didn't contrast all that much to Germany at the time. Was it better or much different than wearing a pink triangle and subjected to forced labor, the very thing he was helping defeat? I like this is example because it provides insight into the injustices gays and lesbians faced in the 20th century.
correction: sex offenders*
realized that latter be the wrong choice of wording
Hello, my name is Zackary M (11 a.m. class) and to be blunt the law doesn't really interest me. I just know that if I follow the law then I won't be punished, meaning I don't have to know all the 'fancy lawyer words' and dig too deep into the courts. The only book, show, or movie that I have paid attention to that covers law was the show "Suits". It has been a very popular Netflix watch for many people recently and I jumped on the bandwagon. The show uncovers a man who attended Harvard Law School but got kicked out and then stumbles into an interview at a law firm after escaping breaking the law. The show is drama-filled and obviously embellishes certain aspects of the profession that make it more appealing to the audience, but the show is my only involvement with law in entertainment.
Hello! my name is Hannah S (11am class). My favorite book that relates to law is "Just Mercy" by Bryan Stevenson. I read it my junior year in high school. This was just after Covid and it was my first time reading a book at school that was this heavy. It is about a black man who was wrongly convicted of murder and put on death row. If I remember correctly, the author Stevenson, was actually the mans lawyer in REAL LIFE and wrote on their experiences. I don't want to spoil too much, but the book is extremely emotional and altered my views of the law and imprisonment when I was 16.
Hello, my name is Emma R (11am class) and my favorite movie when I think about the law is Legally Blonde. I like watching it with my roommates and think it is an interesting/entertaining take on law.
Hello, my name is Jollean V (3:30 p.m. class). My favorite TV show that relates to law is titled "Suits" and is shown on Netflix. When I first started watching the show, I had no idea Meghan Markle was staring in it, which was pretty cool to see. the show revolved around characters who worked at the law firm "Pearson Spector", but the name changed many times due to under the table deals and promises. My favorite characters are Donna and Katherine.
Hello, my name is Emily G. (3:30pm class). My favorite TV show that relates to law is called "Your Honor" on Netflix. I binge watched it a couple of weeks ago with my roommate because it was so good. I liked it so much because it hooks you from the first scene and never gets slow or boring. It's about a judge played by Bryan Cranston. In the show, Cranston's son is guilty of murder and tells his father in hopes of getting help with the situation. Cranston's character goes through a mental battle of deciding whether or not to incriminate his son or break ethical law and help him get away with murder.
Hello, I am Austen S. and I am part of the 3:30PM class.
I've read "A Guide to Human Understanding" by John Locke. It's an essay that negates the idea of innate beliefs (beliefs that are ingrained prior to the individual's conception of the world). It's loosely related to law, however I wanted to use it as an example because John Locke laid out a lot of modern philosophy that was eventually applied in the U.S Constitution. If you are interested in political commentary and philosophy, it's a real no brainer to read.... although you will have to use your brain a lot to get through it....
Hey, My name is Skyler W (3:30p.m. class). My favorite TV Show that relates to law is NCIS. My dad and I used to watch this show together every week growing up, so whenever I miss him, I always re-watch the show. NCIS is a TV show that has been running for years now and the agents investigate all types of crimes from murder to terrorism that are connected to the Navy.
Hi my name is Maddy A (11A.M. class) My favorite movie is 1917. I have always had a fascination with WWI and WWII and thats why i think i was so drawn to this movie. I went to see it in theaters 3 or 4 times thats how much i liked it. The way this movie pretains to law is the film delves into the moral and ethical dilemmas faced by soldiers. These dilemmas often intersect with legal issues, especially in the context of war crimes, the treatment of prisoners, and the protection of civilians under international law.
Hi! My name is Kyle Halligan-Duffy and I am in the 3:30pm class. I don't really see myself as someone interested in law but I am someone interested in freedom of speech. One of my favorite songs about expression and the free speech is Radiate by London based post-hardcore band Enter Shikari. Its really a song about censorship and how musicians and artists will always fight against it even if it seems fruitless. Lyrics like "we'll write songs in the dark" and "To take away our expression is to impoverish our existence" always stick out and speak to me as an artist myself. I am also very excited to have in my possession tickets to see them this October so I can hopefully hear the song played live.
hi there! I'm Silvano R .(11am). my favorite law related film is "Ted 2". Heartwarming movie which is also a comedic pile of gold. The movie revolves around the inalienable rights of a teddy bear. Although this movie is silly, it is an eye opener when the audience compares the movie to real life history.
Hello! My name is Josseline C. (Online class) and my favorite show related to law is Better Call Saul. This show is the prequel to Breaking Bad and explains the life of Jimmy McGill, a public defender desperately trying to make a name fore himself. As the show progresses, Jimmy bends and breaks the law, eventually gaining success as a crooked lawyer through his adapted persona he calls Saul Goodman. Aside from being an entertaining and dramatic TV show, I think it reflects the reality of human emotion versus morality, and the tough reality of the modern legal system.
Hi, my name is Destiny S. and I am apart of the 11 am class.
My favorite media that pertains to the law is Criminal Minds. I would always watch the show with my grandmother when growing up and I have binged watched it when it was available on Netflix. Criminal Minds follows a team of FBI profilers who work to catch some really crazyyyyyy people. Each member of the team has their own set of unique skills that work to identify and stop predators. My favorite character is Penelope Garcia, she's super quirky and outgoing. She works as Tech Analyst for the team and uses her skills pinpoint locations, search databases, etc...
My name is Ty Thompson (3:30) my favorite media that relates to law is how to get away with murder. I like scandal because of the drama plot of the series not the court cases that was involved. How to get away with murder or HTGAWM is about a group of ambitious law students and their brilliant, mysterious criminal defense professor. They become entangled in a murder plot that will shake the entire university and their lives, with their own lives at risk.
Hi! My name is Briana E. and I'm apart of the 11:00am class. My favorite show that is related to law would be How to Get Away with Murder. It follows a main group of law students who assist in cases under defense attorney, Annalise Keating. I enjoyed how all of them come from different backgrounds, however they all come together as a group to protect one another.
My name is Garrett and i am in the 11:00 class. A show that i like related to law is NCIS it is a little repetitive but it passes the time it's about a group of Navy cops who deal with members of the military who have committed crimes.
My name is Katelyn Bebley (3:30) and my favorite show that involves the law would have to be "How To Get Away With Murder." Its basically a group of law students that work together to solve a murder that changes their lifestyle and universities dynamic.
Hi! My name is Zoe Claybrook and I'm apart of the 11am class. My favorite TV show that relates to law is "Suits." In this show you get to follow along a fictional corporate law firm and watch them handle cases. I enjoy watching this show because of all the lawsuits and cases they go through and the drama that comes with it.
Hi, my name is Christian P. and I am part of the 3:30 p.m. class. My favorite movie that is related to law is "A Few Good Men." This movie is a fairly famous military law movie where some Air Force lawyers are trying a court martial for the murder of a Marine at Guantanamo Bay with lots of twists and turns and the most famous line of the movie being "You can't handle the truth!" This is my favorite movie because when I was in the military doing training we were shown this film and the dramatization of it versus the in-person much more boring but seriousness of a court martial.
Hello, my name is Dalilah G (11:00 class), and my favorite book dealing with the law would be retelling the graphic novel To Kill a Mockingbird. It related to law by having one of our characters be a lawyer during a period of injustice where courts did not give African Americans and other races fair trials and how systemic racism caused innocent people to suffer. Why my favorite book is related to law due to how, in character defending the actor, a black man guilty of a crime he physically couldn't commit, and the judge knows but chooses to give him the death penalty. This hit me close as to being accused of a crime you did not commit, and people know, but they decided to look away. Our lawyer stepped up and defended a man whose faith was already set before the trial began due to his skin color. However, he still tries to treat him like a person, like a human. In the face of adversity, when the lawyer's family gives death threats, he holds himself and other characters. A favorite quote of mind that sums it up best for me is the one where the lawyer Atticus Finch: "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view..until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it
Helloo, My name is Anthony Garza (3:30 class) and my favorite TV show related to law would be Suits. While i know it may not be a very accurate representation of what corporate law can look like. It creates a good relationship between alot of the characters and is very interesting to watch. Following a law firm and its new hire it shows different kinds of law battles set in New york. From small claims, big company mergers, to fighting against slumlords. Its cool to see the wits a lawyer might have.
Hello, my name is Chris Mullins (3:30 class) and my favorite movie about law is "Seven" released in 1995. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman play detectives and try to find a roaming serial killer. There are many obstacles and dramatic turns throughout the film. Although it does not necessarily apply to media law, there are many instances where online media is critiquing the men and women who are on the case. If you are into movies that have huge twists, this is the movie for you. They eventually find who the killer is, but it takes an unexpected turn at the very end. I do not want to spoil it if you have never seen it, but like the famous quote from "The Dark Night" goes "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain" this definitely applies here. Lots of different types of law are in this movie, so if you have not seen it, give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
Hey, I am Kyla McClintock (online.) I don't have a favorite movie or book that I like that relates to law, but I do like watching Suits, which is a show about lawyers. It pertains romance, scandal, lies, and more. I really enjoy watching it, but other than that I do not watch or read anything else that involves the law.
Hello! My name is Chloe Mercado, I attend the 3:30 p.m. class. My favorite TV series that is related to law is "How to get away with Murder" on Netflix! It has been out for a while, but I would still recommend it to anyone! To summarize, It is about a law professor who creates an inner circle of her best students and colleagues to work at her law firm practice, and soon everyone finds themselves somehow tied into a crime, and use their skills and knowledge to cover themselves.
Hi! My name is Alissa D. I am in the 11 am class. One of my all time comfort TV shows is scandal. The show follows Olivia Pope, played by the incredible Kerry Washington, who is a lawyer in Washington DC and has turned her practice into a “fixing” practice. While all her employees are lawyers, they no longer represent their clients in court, but “fix” their legal problems in crazy ways. She also is having an affair with the president of the United States and it gets so ~scandalous!~
Hi, my name is Michael T, I attend the 11 a.m class, my favorite show that has the closet thing to do with law would be "daredevil". Although his main focus isn't on law, he still practices as a lawyer when he's not engaged in combat or suited up. "The show follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights crime as the vigilante Daredevil in Hell's Kitchen, New York.
Hi! My name is Gretchen B. and I am in the 3:30pm class. A show I liked related to law was How to Get Away with Murder. It has been a while since I watched it but from what I can remember it follows a law professor/lawyer who choses some of her best students to help her with cases. The students and law professor end up covering up a murder and learning a lot about law in the process.
Coty G. 3:30pm class
Hello everyone. My favorite show about law is Better Call Saul. For the uninitiated, Better Call Saul is a prequel spin-off of the hit television series Breaking Bad, written by Vince Gilligan et. al.
The central character, Jimmy McGill, was a lifelong con artist turned struggling public defender. Throughout the show, Jimmy struggles to find meaningful success as a lawyer while navigating challenges that test his moral flexibility (remember Jimmy was a con artist). Later, Jimmy abandons his name and adopts the persona of Saul Goodman; a morally compromised man of the law. In essence, the show is about the rise and fall of Jimmy's character and the complicated pathways that lead him into a life of crime.
I highly suggest you watch this show if you haven't. GO LAND CRABS!!!
Hi! My name is Bridget Price (Online). My favorite show that is related to law would be "Law & Order SVU, Special Victims Unit", it's a TV show about SVU detectives in New York city that help sexual assault victims, children, basically anyone that is considered a "Special Victim." Within the show they will have episodes where the scene is primarily set in a courtroom, and these are my favorite because you get to see the lawyer's debate. The show also covers controversial topics that are going on in the present-day media like gun-control, abortion, and LGBTQ laws, which is interesting to see how it plays out within the show.
Hi Anthony! My name is Bridget Price and I have also watched Suits, it's one of my favorite law related shows. I agree with your point about the representation of what corporate law can look like, especially with one of the main lawyers without a law degree lol. I really enjoy the way they debate, fight in conferences, and battle in the courtroom. It's interesting to see where the characters draw the line with justice and following laws when they are attorneys themselves but still performing illegal acts. Overall, the show covers a lot of topics in law that I did not know before and that was fascinating.
Hi Sydney! My name is Bridget Price, and I have also watched Law & Order SVU. It was one of my favorite shows growing up and I still watch it today. I think it's super interesting to see the type of work that the agents have to do and the sick things that they must take care of or solve. I love the courtroom scenes in these shows because I think it's an interesting way to show the other side after they have caught the suspect to show if they go to jail or not. The show also has so many twists and turns within the plot and you never really know what might happen and each situation is something I could never come up with so it's captivating to see how it plays out.
Hi, my name is Jason L (Online Class) and if i had to choose off the top of my head, my favorite TV show that is related to law would have to be 'How to Get Away with Murder'. There is just something so great about watching Annalise Keating be an absolute powerhouse in the classroom and courtroom. I also love the irony of how much she and her students break the law while trying to defend it.
Avery M (Online): I'm not sure if this counts (haha) but my favorite show that relates to law is Big Brother. Now, here me out. Big Brother, although is a reality competition show, involved lots of politicking. This type of gameplay involves aligning yourself with a specific side to not receive the brunt of the house. All of the players are constantly strategizing to put themselves in the best position. Often like normal politics. Because the contestants are monitored 24/7, they engage in conversations that actually relate to the real world. And oftentimes, it involves current events or injustices in our world. These conversations are interesting because they escape from the fun and games and have honest conversations with one another.
Hi, my name is Jayden H (11am) one of my favorite shows that relates to Law would have to be "The Mayor Of Kingstown". its placed in a small city in Detroit where the main character (The Mayor) is a direct pipeline between criminals, politicians , cops , ext. The whole show consist of the loopholes in our society where keeping order between everyone in this city becomes corrupt.
Hi, my name is Lauren Reid (11 am class) and my favorite TV show related to law is probably NBC's Hannibal. The show follows a man named Will Graham who works occasionally with the FBI to help catch killers via his hyper-empthy abilities that let him reconstruct crime scenes as how they happened in his mind. Naturally he's very traumatized and his assigned psychologist ends up being Dr. Hannibal Lector. I enjoy it because I have great memories of watching this with friends and the story line is wildly entertaining abet not at all realistic to the actual criminal law process.
Hello, my name is Peter E. (Online Class). My favorite TV show related to law is Law and Order: SVU. I chose this show because I used to watch this show along with my mother (she always enjoyed these kinds of drama induced TV shows). As well, I think this show gives the audience a pretty decent look into the world of lawyers, prosecutors, deals between parties, and cases related to criminal law. The show also touches upon the relationships and interactions between investigators, police officers, suspects, convicted criminals, and other members of the legal system. (On a side note, in my opinion, seasons 1-5 are the best of this series).
Hi Christian, I also think that "A Few Good Men" is a great film. I think the acting of Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise were really fantastic here. I think the movie kind of highlights how corruption can really affect any profession or level of society, while indicating that the search for truth should always be a top priority.
Hi Bridget! I also chose Law and Order SVU as my favorite TV show related to law. As you mentioned, the show tackles several controversial topics, while also giving audiences a detailed look into the processes and conversations in the world of criminal law.
Genavive P. 11 AM
One of my favorite songs related to law is Concerning Peace by Special Interest. The songs lyrics i think tie into the spirit of the second amendment expressing the necessity of militant resistance, such as a relugated militia, to secure a free state. I think the song embraces the right to bear arms saying:
"Librial erasure of militant uprising is a tool of corporate interest...
Violence
In its complexity
Is the only tool
Against indignity
No one
Will ever rest in peace
When their value is
Less than property
(We are not concerned with peace)"
Hello my name is Sally P. (Online): Sadly, I have not watched or read a lot of entertainment pertaining to law. I really enjoyed the show ‘Cops’ growing up. It was purely entertainment for me, but I did learn more about our justice system and the people who enforce the law. The show follows cops who track criminals and make arrests, so it’s not exactly a show about law, but rather the people who enforce it. Regardless, I did enjoy the show growing up.
Hello, my name is Conley Strange from the 11:00 class. My favorite law-related show is Suits. I know it is not very realistic to the actual life of lawyers, but it is a good show to get into the concept. The show is mostly about the ups and downs of a law firm in New York City, highlighting the lives of all the workers in the firm. There are a variety of court cases in the show, from minor civil cases to horrific crimes.
Hello, my name is Paulina P. I'm in the 11 am class. I haven't read any books that are about law but the one show I know about and have seen is Suits. It is based in New York City an its is a law firm. Its mostly about a new guy going into a law firm wanting to know everything that comes with being a lawyer. I like how it shows us the Ins and outs of a what a lawyer does.
Hi, my name is Azuli R, (11 am class.) I watch a lot of detective series and I would say my favorite is Columbo. The sometimes two hour long episodes follow a murderer attempting to conceal evidence from the detective Columbo. All if not most episodes include the catchphrase "Just one more thing." Although Columbo is not the most law heavy show I have watched. That title would have to go to Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Hi, my name is Marisol C. (11 am class). One of my favorite movies about law would have to be Just Mercy. The movie is about a Harvard graduate who moves to Alabama to defend the wrongly condemned or those who can't afford a lawyer. I enjoy this movie because of its cinematic aspect and the story it portrays. It also made me cry at the end, and any movie that makes me cry goes on my favorites list.
Hello, my name is Gabriel Dyer I’m in the 3:30 pm class. When I think of my favorite TV show related to law it would have to be Better Call Saul. This show is my favorite because it covers a lot of crime in the show in interesting ways by giving us both sides of the story from a lawyers perspective and varying criminals throughout the show. I also really like how the show developed from being a simple life of some lawyer (Jimmy) to this chaotic story that has Jimmy tied up into some pretty nasty criminal activities eventually leading him into a spiral of bad decisions and criminal life and riding that thin line. This show highlights how the law isn’t always black and white and can even be worked around in certain situations, it paints this picture by using Jimmy to get his clients out of sticky situations by acting as their lawyer which is what he is known for. Jimmy even represents one of the worst criminals in the show, as the criminal comes to him for help because Jimmy is known to help whoever he can if given the right price. But overall this show is one of my all time favorites!
Hi! My name is Avery May, and I'm in the 11am class. My favorite law-related piece of media is probably the series "How to Get Away With Murder." To be honest, I am not super interested in the crime/law genre, but something about this show was captivating to me. The main character, Annalise, is a professor of criminal defense, but she finds herself caught up in a murder plot. It's really interesting because she, an expert in the field, is using her knowledge and experiences fighting crimes like this to get away with one. I really enjoyed this show because of all of the suspense; I never knew what was coming next, and it honestly taught me a lot about the legal system and how criminal trials work.
Hello! My name is Kloe Foster and I am in the 3:30pm class. My favorite movie that has to do with law is Legally Blonde. I know its not a serious movie about law but to me it’s the most entertaining. This movie does include facts and shows the struggles of law school and how hard you have to work.
hey my name is Mac Zarate and I am in the 3:30PM class. My favorite show that has to do with law is drop dead diva... ive seen it once. It's about a lawyer who doesn't get taken serious and overcomes all these trails and tribulations. I enjoyed learning about the law in a real world scenarios.
Hi! My name is Tyshon Joseph (Ty) and I'm apart of your 3:30pm class. My favorite show that has to do with law would have to be "Law and Order". I usually watch it with my mom and sister and it always usually catches my attention with its stories and I think the way the detectives catch criminals and solve crimes is really intriguing. It includes many elements of law especially when they catch a suspect and interrogate them especially in the court scenes.
Hello! I'm Riley Andrus, enrolled in the 11am class. My preferred law-related media is the "20/20" show. I'm not particularly a huge fan of crime shows, but I appreciate "20/20" for its portrayal of real life. For those who don't know, "20/20" is a program that offers comprehensive coverage of high-profile crime stories. While other crime-related shows like "Criminal Minds" and "How to Get Away with Murder" are entertaining, they are fictional and dramatized for viewership. In contrast, "20/20" features real people and real events, which resonates more with me and serves as a reminder that the shocking narratives often depicted in crime dramas can, and do, happen in reality.
Hi, my name is Knox White (11:00AM class), and my favorite show having to do with law is probably Blue Bloods. It's kind of an old person show about a family of police officers and a district attorney in New York. I think I like it because I grew up watching it, there's a combination of serious and light-hearted episodes, and it's nice to have something playing in the background while I do other things.
Hi, my name is Alydia Little (3:30 class) and I haven't really seen a lot of TV shows about law. The closest one I can think of is Scandal in which everyone on Kerry Washington's team is a lawyer/studied to be one and they help the President avoid any scandals by any means necessary. This is one of the favorite shows because of all of the twists and turns that the characters go through!
Hi, I'm Kaye Knoll (11:00 AM class). If I had a favorite piece of media dealing with the law it would probably be The Thin Blue Line. It's a documentary dealing with injustice in the justice system by presenting the case of a wrongfully convicted man sentenced to death after unfair treatment from law enforcement. I enjoy works that interrogate the systemic issues present in our laws, and this documentary is both intriguing and compelling.
I am G.C. Harris I’m the 3:30 pm class and one of my favorite law shows is law and order: SVU. I watched this show with my grandma and I’ll always remeber the DUN DUN if you know you know. The show is based on New York going over fictional cases
I'm Abigail Tuttle (11 am class) and I have recently been watching the Netflix documentary "Chimp Crazy" which is about a woman who has been raising and selling chimps, under less than satisfactory conditions, and is being sued by PEETA. Laws surrounding animals rights have really come to light the past few years and it is incredibly interesting to me. They currently only have 2 episodes out, but I am watching as they release them.
I am Brianna B. (MC4301 Online) and though I have not consumed many pieces of media related to law besides To Kill a Mockingbird, my favorite would have to be the fictional TV show "Criminal Minds". I was obsessed with it a few years ago because of the FBI profiler team and their chemistry. The work they did to catch some of the most wanted fugitives was brilliant! However, I have been wanting to read "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote for the longest time but haven't gone around to it if you can believe that.
I am Jaylyn Robinson (3:30 Class). My favorite movie of all time is Holes by Disney, starring Shia LeBeouf. It's a story about a boy named Stanley who has bad luck because of a curse on his family that happened a hundred years ago. Because of the curse he is wrongly framed for stealing a valuable cleats from a orphanage which were game worn cleats from his favorite baseball player. The shoes were thrown off a bridge and he found them. He decided to put the shoes on and wear them. Because possession is 9/10ths of the law and he was wearing him he was sent to to a youth correctional camp.
my favorite movie related to Law would have to be Legally Blonde. This is a classic 2000s chick flick that I grew up watching. Our main character Elle Woods thinks her boyfriend at the time is going to propose on their next date, little does she know that her boyfriend dumps her and says that he is going to law school, he explains that she isn’t serious enough for his future. She goes home crying but then decides that she is also going to go to law school with her boyfriend when she first tells her family and friends they laugh at her and think she is joking, in the end, she graduates law school and becomes a lawyer and also moves on from her pathetic ex-boyfriend.
Hannah Holbrook
I'm Katherine Andrews (3:30 class). My favorite book about the law is the print version of the play Inherit the Wind. Inherit the Wind centers around a schoolteacher in Tennessee who gets into legal trouble for teaching evolution in his science class. The work is a fictionalized account of the real Scopes Trial which took place in 1925. The bulk of the play is spent on the schoolteacher's trial and the arguments for and against teaching evolution instead of creationism. This play is a favorite of mine because it examines very current questions about freedom of speech and freedom of religion in an outdated cultural context. Painting modern dilemmas in a different light makes the topics very interesting and the arguments unexpected. It is also very well written and has great dialogue.
I'm Ailee Lozano (11:00am class). One of my favorite films that is related to law is "Anatomy of a fall" (2023). The film is based in France and it follows a woman who is accused of murdering her husband who dies by falling from the second floor of their house. What I find most interesting about this film is the difference between the legal court system in France vs. the U.S. which allows for open discussion in the court room instead of one person being questioned at a time. I think this film does an excellent job at portraying truth and doubt in a court setting and how these two factors can remain ambiguos despite having evidence to support them.
Hello, my name is Khalilah W from the online class. One of my favorite books that inspired a movie about legal issues and the law is John Grisham’s “A Time to Kill”. Both the book and the movie delivered an emotional and power packed story of bittersweet vindication in the racist south. The story touched on issues such as legal ethics, equality and abuse of power. An enraged father of a young black girl who was raped, beaten, and left for dead in a river, shot the town deputy in an attempt to scare the authorities into prosecuting the responsible parties. Rather than justice for the heinous crime committed, the father found himself on trial for the shooting.
Hello my name is Alanna Solis (11am class) My favorite show pertaining to law as of recently is on netflix called “Worst Roomate Ever” It’s a series that pertains to different attempted murder cases and delves into the real victims, layers, doctors, and ems explaining their perspective on what’s about to take place in their lives/cases
Aden L. 11am class. I like the song "I Fought the Law" by The Clash. I heard the song all time when I was kid because my parents would always leave the radio in car set to classic rock stations. Besides hearing it all the time it is an extremely catchy song, I honestly have no clue who wrote it originally but I feel like its a relatable story to how many of us may feel going against the powers that be and being met with failure. This is what makes me sing every lyric when I hear it come on.
Hello, My name is Alexis M., Online Class. My favorite show was Law and Order, essentially a show that goes into the perspective of the detective's journey through solving a crime they are assigned to. Sometimes the cases become personal for the detectives, and just give a general idea of how crime-solving works on the other side. I haven't watched the recent seasons of Law and Order, but I remember watching it with my brother, and it always grabbed the attention of the audience and tried to find out what happened in the case with the detectives!
Hello, my name is Sophia Delbridge and I'm in the online class!
I read the book "Just Mercy" in high school and it really impacted me. It's a true story about a lawyer fighting for the wrongfully convicted on death row. The book gave me a good insight into the injustices of our legal system and the morality of the death penalty. I love books that teach me new things and help me see the world differently, I highly recommend reading it!
Zoe S. 11am Media Law & Ethics
My favorite TV show that is somewhat related to the law is Criminal Minds. The entire series follows FBI profilers as they pursue criminal investigations mostly pertaining to serial murder, specifically involving kidnappings or sexual assault cases. Although the show does not typically include the court case that follows the criminals’ capture, it is intriguing to watch them dig into the minds of criminals and answer the How and Why behind these murders. This is definitely my favorite show, as I am usually very inconsistent with watching TV series. However, this is the only one I have been able to complete and then watch a second time.
Hello this is Matthew C (3:30), My favorite show related to law has been Better Call Saul, the prequal show to Breaking Bad, about a small time hustler lawyer who ends up representing small then large time criminals after realising he wasnt cut out for a legit large law firm. Although it definetly touched on the criminal defense law element, it also showed what goes on in law firms and the restrictions and loopholes in the law and a lawyer representing a client.
Gian C. 11A.M. class. My favorite TV show related to law is "Castle" it aired on ABC for 8 seasons. It stars Nathan Fillion as a mystery novelist that follows NYPD homicide detective Kate Beckett played by Stana Katic, for inspiration for his next novel series. They solve homicides together and eventually fall in love. It also relates to media since the character Castle is a author and is technically part of the press.
Analysa T. I am in the 11 a.m. class. My favorite show that pertains to law would be "Suits." I know that it is fiction but it is still very interesting to watch. It is a show of an expelled college student who luckily stumbled upon an interview while trying to runaway from the police and ended up being an apprentice to a lawyer. The lawyer gives the kid a chance to practice law even though he does not have a law degree and he must practice with a lie of him being a fraud (not having a degree in law).
Hello! My name is D'Aaron C (11:00 a.m. class). One of my favorite shows that relates to law is "The Closer." I used to watch this show a lot growing up and I loved the intensity of the cases that were presented in the show. It is a very detective based show, which I was always interested in. The many mind games that are present throughout the show will keep you hooked! I would for sure recommend this show to anyone that wants an easy binge!
Hello, my name is Genesis N. (11 am). My favorite law-related TV show is "How To Get Away With Murder". I enjoyed the fact that the show was about a lawyer who was also a law professor. While teaching students the rights and wrongs of the law she's breaking them. It implies that even someone knowledgeable can break the law too.
Hi, my name is Alexah Alvineda. I am in the 11 am class. Recently, I have been watching Suits on Netflix. It relates to the law because the show focuses on lawyers at a New York law firm handling legal cases, making deals, and navigating the courtroom. The characters constantly deal with legal issues, contracts, and ethical dilemmas central to law practice. The show gives a glimpse into what it's like to work in a high-stakes legal environment, even if some scenarios are dramatized for TV.
Hello, my name is Ethan R.(online) and my favorite law series has got to be "Better Call Saul." The show is a prequel to "Breaking Bad" and follows the story of Jimmy McGill(Saul Goodman). Saul is a criminal defense lawyer who finds ways to bend the law throughout the series. I love both Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad because both shows test morality
Hello, my name is Keyari D. (Online class). My favorite show that relates to law is this early 2000s show called “Lie To Me”. It’s about this detective that can read people’s emotional expressions, so he can tell if someone is lying or covering up something on a case. Some emotions are involuntary, and he picks up on those expressions very quickly that a regular person wouldn’t catch. He doesn’t even have to speak the same language to solve the case. He just needs to read their body language.
Hi, my name is Kaden B (3:30 pm class). Probably the only movie, show, or song I've seen related to law is Legally Blonde. This movie is about a girl who is trying to prove herself to a man and to do so she tries to get into Harvard Law School, which she does, trying to win him back. She attempts to overcome stereotypes against blondes being successful lawyers.
Ashlee Hawkins (3:30)
As a theatre kid, the absolute first thing to jump into my mind was the stage musical adaptation of Legally Blonde. The show contains a lot of characters I would love to get the chance to play one day, and I would argue it to be one of the only truly GREAT movie to musical adaptations. I think it highlights mistreatment of women in male dominated industries like law, is a piece of media that encourages women (regardless of how girly you are) can accomplish anything just as serious as a man. While so much of the law elements to the script are very dramatized, the scene that sticks with me is when Elle Woods sticks it to Paulette’s ex, forcing him to return her beloved dog by means of the law.
I forgot how much I LOVED this show—was one of the first TV shows I ever truly binge watched. Viola Davis is an icon. Ashlee Hawkins (3:30)
Vivian N. (3:30)
I think that the only entertainment media I've consumed relating to law is the show Criminal Minds. I originally began watching it a couple years ago and watch episodes here and there, but I enjoyed seeing how they navigated different cases. It is an extensive show, and I'm sure many have seen it, but it is about how the team at Quantico solves cases and identifies criminals.
Tyson T. (Online)
My favorite law-related show is definitely Better Call Saul. Breaking Bad is one of my all-time favorite TV shows, and after finishing it, I immediately started watching Better Call Saul. The show focuses on Saul Goodman, a lawyer who represents drug dealers and gang members in exchange for large sums of cash. It serves as a prequel to Breaking Bad, offering insight into how Saul began his career as a lawyer.
Hi, my name is Johnathan M. (3:30 pm class). One of my favorite legal TV shows is "The Lincoln Lawyer" on Netflix. Based on the novels by Michael Connelly, it follows Mickey Haller, a defense lawyer who runs his practice out of his Lincoln Towncar.
Why it's my favorite: The blend of legal drama and personal intrigue keeps me hooked. Mickey Haller's character is complex, often operating in morally gray areas, which adds depth to the storyline.
Brief summary: Mickey Haller, a charismatic defense attorney, navigates the legal world from the backseat of his Lincoln Towncar. Each episode presents a new case, showcasing his legal prowess and unconventional methods.
Hi, my name is Lucia R. I'm in the 11am class, One of my favorite movies related to law is called Primal Fear. The movie recounts a Defense attorney who is involved in a case where an altar boy is accused of killing an archbishop but claims he doesn't remember since he suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. I think it is a very interesting movie that combines psychology and law, and the main message of the film is the duality of mankind.
Hello! My name is Ella S and I’m a current student for MC 4301 online class. I would say my favorite show relating to law is Law and Order SVU. I grew up watching the show and always loved watching the victims in the special victims unit gain closure and of course the iconic intro song. One of my favorite scenes to watch in particular is when either Alex or Casey is questioning the defendants.
Kannon W. Online
My favorite tv series about law is "Just Call Saul". The series shows a different type of lawyer, one that works off the books and most of the time is not completely legal. It looks at lawyers from a different angle than other media and provides a breath of fresh air.
My name is Grace R. I am in the 3:30 pm Media Law class:
"So Help Me Todd" is one of my favorite law-related shows. It's a legal comedy series on Amazon Prime Video that follows the story of Todd, a struggling private investigator who ends up getting his license taken away and goes to work at his mothers law firm. Todd ends up representing a diverse group of clients. The show combines humor with legal drama, showing Todd navigating through different quirky cases and courtroom antics. The characters are hilarious, and the cases they tackle are both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Hi, my name is Haley C and I’m apart of the 11 am class!
One of my favorite works related to law is Fyodor Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment." This novel intricately explores legal and moral issues through its protagonist, Rodion Raskolnikov, who struggles with the consequences of his crime. The story probes the justifications for criminal acts and the nature of punishment, revealing the complex relationship between individual ethics and legal standards. Raskolnikov's psychological turmoil and his interactions with others highlight the profound impact of crime and justice on both the individual and society. Dostoevsky's work remains a compelling examination of how law and morality intersect.
My name is Marley T. and I am in the Online class for Media Law and Ethics. My favorite tv show related to law is "The Crowded Room". It is a thriller miniseries on Apple TV+. The story is about Danny Sullivan, a young man arrested for an attempted shooting in 1979. Danny's lawyer and a police interrogator, Rya Goodwin, try to prove that Danny is not responsible for the crime due to dissociative identity disorder (DID). The case was a huge landmark because it was the first time DID was used as part of a defense in a criminal court. In the end of the show, Danny was proven not guilty by reason of insanity. The show is based on the real-life case of Billy Mulligan. It was my favorite because of the amazing acting and the story telling of jumping from the present to the past and showing Danny's different personalities with the relation to the difficulties of his life.
One of my favorite shows related to law is Bones. I started watching it with my sister, and it’s become a series we can enjoy together. The show follows forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth as they solve complex murder cases. What I love most about Bones is the blend of humor with serious subject matter, along with the drama that unfolds between the characters. Although Bones and Booth are our main characters I love how the series makes sure to include plots to the story that highlight the other cast members, especially the rotating cast of interns. -BV (MC 4301.080 online)
One movie I checked out over the summer that really got me hooked on law movies and shows is My Cousin Vinny. It’s basically a 90's film about these two friends driving to college for the first time, and they end up getting tossed in jail after getting framed for a murder that went down at a convenience store they visited. Since they're scared and totally clueless about what to do, one of the friends reaches out to his cousin Vinny, who went to law school but never actually won a case, to be their lawyer. What makes it my favorite is that the movie had me on the edge of my seat as I felt so frustrated watching Vinny doing his best in court while totally trying to figure things out. (Destany S. MC4301 @ 11 am)
My name is Arianna Gomez Bravo ( 11 a.m.). My favorite show related to law is "Drop Dead Diva." It's about an aspiring model who dies in a car crash and gets brought back to life as an intelligent, overweight lawyer, hoping to find the meaning of inner beauty and, in the meantime, learn how to navigate her new career as a lawyer. I like the show due to its comedy and the lessons taught through the legal cases dealt with in the show.
My name is Diego M. I am in the 11 a.m. section. My favorite law-related show is “Suits” 2011. I like it because it follows a smart ass who is pretending to be a lawyer at a major firm working for corporations. They get into some tricky situations but they always manage to figure it out and the whole idea of someone just being so talented at law and litigating but never having formal certification is just interesting to me. I will add I never finished it though but it was fun to watch most of it.
My name is Rubi G. and I'm taking the online version of the class. My favorite show that is related to law is an anime called Death Note. It's a psychological thriller revolving around the concept of justice while exploring the moral and legal implications of taking the law into one’s own hands. Light Yagami as a high school super genius has been bored for a while but after acquiring a notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing their name in it, decides to become a vigilante nicknamed Kira in his free time. But a renounced detective by the name of L has an opposing ideology to the one Light Yagami has. It's a clash between L’s belief in the rule of law versus Kira’s belief in his own form of justice. I believe the show is a great critique of Japanese law enforcement and shows both its strengths and its weaknesses.
My name is Shelby Z! I am in the 3:30 pm section. My favorite show related to law is “Your Honor”. The show centers on Michael Desiato, a respected judge whose life takes a dramatic turn when his teenage son becomes involved in a hit-and-run accident. The victim is the son of a notorious crime boss!!! Due to this the judge starts to test his morality.
My name is Kelsy Trejo and I am in the 11am in-person class. My favorite show that is related to law is called "Suits". It's a series that follows a photographic memory lawyer that is only a lawyer by appointment and not having taken the traditional route of law school. He is constantly on edge for the fear of being caught and has huge names behind him to help cover his secret.
Hello my name is Jose Ramirez and I am in your 11 AM in-person class. My favorite work involving law would most likely be the TV-show ‘Better Call Saul” as I am a massive Breaking Bad fan. The should follows Saul Goodman’s journey before the Breaking Bad show begins and Saul is a defense attorney for a lot of the drug lords in the BB universe. I am sure the court scenes and law practices showed in the show are not entirely accurate to what happens in day to day life, but it si the only pice of art that I am familiar with that has any sort of elements of practicing law.
My name is Kobe Arriaga and I am in your online class. I actually read books a lot more than I watch movies and a good book that I’ve read that I would honestly recommend is “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. I like this story because it is incredibly inspiring, although it can be tough to read through certain chapters, I always liked books that can have a quick impact on me as a reader. The story follows a lawyer and his defendant, a black man accused of heinous acts in 1930’s America. Overall, the story deals with a lot of social and cultural issues involving racism and a lack of justice within its system, and was one of the few books that had the ability to impact me almost like a punch in the stomach. It’s a great read, and very eye opening.
Hi, my name is Ashelyn Phelan, and I am in your 11 am class. My favorite TV show related to law is Suits. I binge-watched this show about a year ago and found the cases fascinating. I was aware that many of these cases were not everyday and obviously Mike would not have been able to practice law under the radar so freely in real life, but the terminology and situations were interesting regardless. I enjoyed the show and believe it taught me about the complexity of the law in certain situations.
Hi Kelsy! My favorite show is also Suits! I love each of the characters and how they each bring different strengths to the team. Mike’s memory makes him a great lawyer and also makes the show even more entertaining. Glad you like it too!!
Bella Garcia - 11 a.m MW class
One of my favorite movies around law would be Legally Blonde, I really enjoyed the potrayal of showing that knowledge in different areas no matter how irrelevant it might seem can prove to be useful.
Hi, I'm Mai T. and I'm a part of your 11am class. A show that I like that relates to law probably has to be Law and Order: SVU. To be honest, I don't know enough about law to talk about it in this discussion, but I like the show because it's kind of fascinating to watch the detectives unfold the different cases that they stumble upon.
Hi, I'm Sarah B. (3:30 pm) and my favorite movie about the law is "A Few Good Men". Apart from the stacked cast, this movie does a good job of showing the law process in the military. The film follows the court-martial of two US Marines who are accused of murdering another Marine. It includes the JAG Corps and shows how the court-martial process works, as it has its own rules and procedures.
Hello! My name is Carys Leake (11am) and my absolute favorite book that has to do with law is Agatha Christie's first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles. Although it is a murder mystery, it brings up an interesting fact about criminal law. To spoil it, at the end of the book the detective realizes that the criminal was the obvious husband and he was actually actively trying to be charged for the murder of his wife. His plan was to go to court, show his previously unknown perfect alibi, and be declared not guilty. Afterwards, if his accomplice to the murder was discovered (the maid seeking revenge), he would escape court due to no double jeopardy law. Of course the detective spoils his plans, but I thought this was so fascinating and an interesting fact about the law I didn't even know existed!
Hello, I am Brooklyn H. My absolute favorite show related to law is "Suits" on Netflix. This show is so intriguing to me because I have watched so many seasons that I now understand the terminology used. The series follows a law firm plus all the cases that they handle. It is super interesting seeing the "behind the scenes" of lawyers, as well as HOW they uncover some of the information to use in cases, both for or against.
My name is Jayden Lockett and I am in the 3:30 class period. I don’t watch many “law” practicing shows but one show that i can recall is “How To Get Away With Murder” by Shonda Rhimes. HTGAWM follows a college law professor, Annalise Keating, and 5 handpicked students known as the “Keating 5”, as she takes them through active cases which some of the cases have pretty significant correlation with the main characters.
My name is Jaelin Martin I am in the online class. I just read the novel "Verity" by Colleen Hoover. The novel is not directly about law but it does involve many illegal activities such as murder, and attempted murder and shows how the main characters "get away" with their actions.
Hi, I am Eric S. (11am). I honestly can't recall much shows or books that involved law in the things that I have watched or read recently, but one that I can recall and I know this is a stretch but legally blonde. It shows some aspects of law not much but some, and also shows what it somewhat takes to become a lawyer in a funny way.
Hello, My name is Ashley Avalos (3:30pm) My favorite tv show that is related to law is "Suits" that streams on Netflix, I like it because in every episode is something different and dramatic. Its this guy that takes the LSAT for people without going to Harvard University but is ready to work in a law firm. The show is to entertain people because theres some love drama into it but it's also law incorporated with law terms. It shows how they handle cases and it's interesting to view a show where they demonstrate how the cases are being solved with a lot of evidence.
My name is Gabby Rojas (online). I would say my favorite show tv that has to do with law would be Criminal Minds. It's about a group of FBI agents who are part of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). They work to hunt down serial killers all over the country, building a profile for the unsub (unknown subject) to find out their identity.
Isabelle N.(11a.m. MW class)
One of my favorite movies related to law is "A Time to Kill." The movie covers heavy topics and can be disturbing at times, but I think it is a well-made film that explores the justice and legal system.
Lauren M. (11 a.m.) - My favorite piece of entertainment having to do with law is probably Law and Order or Law and Order: Criminal Intent. I like seeing how they catch and try the bad guys, and, also, why the criminals did it. Over the pandemic, I actually made a short parody with my pug called Lauren Order haha!
Hi, it’s Lauren M. (11 a.m.) here again. I forgot to explain the premise of the two Law and Orders I mentioned! Law and Order, as others have mentioned, is a long-standing, one-hour tv show where the first half is of the cops interrogating and the second half is of the attorneys prosecuting. Law and Order Criminal Intent is very similar; however, the audience is shown the crime and the criminal, and we get to follow along with the process as to how the criminal is caught and why they did it.
My name is Hailey N. from the MW 3:30 class. My favorite movie that is related to the law is Legally Blonde! In this movie, Reece Witherspoon plays Elle Woods, an upbeat, blonde attending Harvard Law school. As a former sorority girl who majored in Fashion Merchandising, Elle faces a lot of challenges but eventually proves her intelligence by using a unique beauty insight to crack a murder case. Though the movie is a comedic take on the legal system, it provides a good insight on what happens outside of the court room.
My name is Jackson K. from the Media Law and Ethics online class. My favorite show that has to do with law is the Sopranos. It may be a stretch to say it has to do with the law - but the protagonists do have to deal with the FBI and law enforcement frequently. Essentially, Tony Soprano is a Mob boss - and him and his crew have numerous illegal ways to make money. Tony has people killed and beat up as well. He has numerous cops on his payroll, and an FBI agent is a series regular who actively tries to find evidence to put Tony away.
Hello! My name is Micah Lundwall, and I attend the 11am class. My favorite movie about law would have to be "A Time to Kill," starring Matthew McCaunoughy. It took place when the civil rights movements were still gaining momentum. The case is about defending the father (Samuel L. Jackson) of a little girl who was severely assaulted by two white men. Jackson's character shot the two men to avenge his little girl's trauma. McCounoughy takes on the case, knowing he's taking the risk of saving this man's family at the risk of the safety of his own family. After a very tense trial, McCounoughy was successful in defending Jackson and speaking against racism and the injustice of this case to the judge and jury. I like this movie because McConoughy was a leader and protagonist in the name of the civil rights movement.
Amelia Briones - 11 a.m. class. My favorite movie related to the law is “Legaly Blonde” because is shows that ANY kind of person can become a lawyer if you put in the work and push yourself. I also love that Elle woods (the main character) is surrounded by a supportive group of friends even when her boyfriend and family aren’t as supportive.
Hey yall, I’m Madison H from the 11 a.m. class, but feel free to call me Maddie. My favorite show is called Suits, which is streaming on Netflix right now. The show follows a young guy in New York who fakes being a pro lawyer to get out of some trouble and ends up having to learn to play the part to get out of deeper trouble. A different case is covered in every episode, usually someone getting sued for something crazy, seasoned by a hefty amount of drama.
Isabelle Tousha 11 AM class-
My favorite show related to law is Suits, which I have watched since I was 12 years old with my family. It follows a man with an eidetic memory working as a lawyer without a law degree. I love this show for many reasons, the drama, and the nostalgia for me, but I also love how it follows the good and the bad side of law, and how it feels like I'm seeing the behind the scenes of practicing law.
Hi! I am Houston Tackett and I am in the 11am class. I don't know much about the law, especially in terms of representation in media. I don't really watch many true crime/procedural shows. However, I do enjoy marvel movies and shows. There are two shows currently where the character is a lawyer. One is Daredevil where a blind Matt Murdock works as a lawyer during the day and is a vigilante by night. The other is She-Hulk which follows Jennifer Walters who is transformed into a hulk while trying to complete her work as a lawyer.
Hi! My name is Emma Johnson and I attend the 3:30 PM class. I don't particularly have a movie or TV show off of the top of my head, but my mind keeps going back to Britney Spears' memoir, and honestly the documentary about her case. She talks about everything that happened with the conservatorship and how her rights were basically taken from her, and also how she got them back. I read a lot about it and found it very interesting and depressing. But thats just where my brain goes.
Hi, my name is Colleen Krim & I am in the MW 3:30 section of this course. My favorite show that pertains to law and true crime is Law and Order, which focuses on the crime specifially in New York. I love it due to the fact it takes you all the way through a legal investigation from the inital arrest to the court proceedings. Even though it is fictional it really takes you into the ethical problems of the law within situations.
Hi, my name is Sophia Colston and I attend the 3:30 p.m. class on Monday and Wednesday. My favorite show is called "Jury Duty." It is on Amazon Prime and it is about actors pretending to discuss a matter of the law with one person who has no idea in front of a judge who is also an actor.
Hello! My name is Georgia W. I am in the Monday and Wednesday class that meets @3:30 p.m. My favorite movie that has to do with law is "Legally blonde". I love this movie because it is a comedy, yet allows us to learn about the law, even through someone who is meant to play as a "dumb blonde". She ends up winning the court case when no one thought she would. Although the movie is not realistic, we are able to learn logistics within the law and court system while laughing.
Hello, my name is Charlie Daniels (3:30 class). Unfortunately, I do not have any books, movies or shows that I’ve indulged in about law. However I did read an essay from a collection, it was titled “A GenderPunk Love Letter.” The author writes about growing up in a time where being queer was not acceptable. A large focus of the essay is how the author struggled to find protection and justice from law enforcement. This essay spoke to me since I myself am a member of the LGBTQ community. This essay also provided some context on an intimate level as to why the LGBTQ laws we have today are currently in place.
Hi, my name is Amy Nunez and i. am in the. online section. My favorite. series is "When They See Us", and it's based on a real story. of 5 Black and Latino teenagers that were wrongfully accused. This takes place in New York in 1989 and they got accused of raping a white woman at central park. This series highlights the systematic racism that is in placed for minorities in the imprisonment system. The series shows the wrongful interrogation, the hard times they endured in. prison, and the effects that prison had on these innocent teenagers.
Hi my name is Gina D and I am in the online section. My favorite movie in relation to law is Legally Blonde I think it's a funny take on the American legal system and how law students are able to get real time practice in a court. They show that there is a harsh reality and stigma behind what a law student should like like and she breaks that stigma with her colorful wardrobe and vocabulary. She also shows that law has to have a sense of passion behind what you're saying you need to be convincing with the facts.
Hey, everyone! My name’s Sam K. from MC 4301.080. One of my favorite law-related shows is Suits. It's all about this guy with no law degree who starts working at a top law firm, and the way they handle different legal cases while keeping this huge secret makes for some really interesting storylines. I love how they dive into legal strategies, and you really get to see how fast-paced and intense that world can be. Plus, the characters and their interactions are super entertaining. Looking forward to more discussions like this!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am in the Online Class
Hi my name is Sydney A and I am in the online section. My favorite law-related show is Your Honor. I started watching it recently on Netflix and it is extremely thrilling. It takes place in New Orleans and is centered around the local judge and his son. At the , the son is involved in a fatal hit and run crash with a family member of a notorious crime boss. As the series continues, the father must face the legality of the situation while protecting his family.
My favorite show related to Law is How to get away with murder. It is based on a group of students from a law school and they have to help their professor solve cases. I love it is because there are always a lot of plot twists and you get to learn as well as be entertained at the same time.

Austin B (online class)
My favorite movie that pertains to law would have to be Dredd or better known in the movie as Judge Dredd. The movie takes place in the future where areas of the world are heavily radiated, and people must live in a large city that stretches from Boston to Washington dc. You see how crime has escalated to the point that normal police could not handle the crime, so what they did is turn one person into an executioner, jury and judge. A Judge is what they are called, and they go out and deal with the criminals of the city. What is interesting is seeing how a judge can be corrupted and cause more chaos when they are the ones who are supposed to bring order.
Austin B
The new movie is what I am talking about not the one with Sylvester Stallone. New one has a judge and rookie enter a mega city skyscraper to fight gang who controls a new drug being sold on the streets. This gang paid off 3 judges to help them kill the other two, which didn't work out to well.

Hello! My name is Ethan T and I am in the 11AM MW class. My favorite tv show that has to do with law is Better Call Saul. The reason why this show is my favorite because it gets you hooked and attached to these characters and it shows how Saul skews the law and how he gets his way no matter what he has to do. It gives an In depth look at how a criminal lawyer can turn into a CRIMINAL lawyer.
Hello my name is Liseth Aguilar and I am in the 11 a.m. Monday/ Wednesday section. My favorite law related show is actually a spanish court series called "Caso Cerrado" starring Ana Maria Polo. I would say it's my favorite because it deals with numerous court deals and all are a little different. It is also interesting because so many people act differently depending on the situation but Dr. polo always keeps her courtroom under control.
Hello my name is Jessica G and I am in the 11 A.M. MW section. A favorite movie of mine that pertains to the law is "Legally Blonde". This movie is about a girl who takes on the world of Harvard Law school. Everyone doubted her, but she stands out when she wins a case for a client of her professor as a first year law student. We get to see how her personality and knowledge on fashion helped her practice law and become one of the best law students in her class. It's my favorite because we see such a girl that normally wouldn't practice law stand out in so many ways. It's just about her pursing her self to be the best that makes me enjoy the movie so much!
Hello, I am Tom S. I am in the 3:30 PM class MW. I don't consume a lot of law-like shows or movies but if I had to choose one it would probably be Law and Order SVU. I can't really remember many of the character's names but I know Detective Benson is a badass and Ice-T is also in it.
The show has been running for over 20 seasons so I don't think I could ever properly catch up but I always preferred a show that kept continuity. I feel like it takes ages to actually reach long-term storylines in the show. However, as I am someone who doesn't keep up with the show often it also means I could watch any episode and not feel completely lost.
I also wanted to add that the show is so iconic that a random little girl saw the actor of Detective Benson and approached her thinking she genuinely was an officer of the law. Hopefully, that little girl is okay though because she knew what she was doing.
Hello, my name is Mason J (online). My favorite movie related to law is Legally Blonde. Reese Witherspoon, a hot pink wardrobe, and Bruiser the tiny chihuahua—how can you top that? In a nutshell, the ever-iconic Elle Woods gets dumped by her boyfriend, who thinks she isn’t "serious" enough. Determined to win him back, she follows him to Harvard Law School. Throughout the movie, she gradually realizes her potential as a student, stays true to herself, and ends up winning the big case.
Hi there! My name is Grace R. and I am in MC 4301: Mass Communication Law & Ethics Section 080 (fully online). Thanks to my mom, my favorite law-related show would have to be Forsenic Files. Forensic Files discusses a certain crime that has happened which is 9 times out of 10 about a homicide case. The show showcases how the crime happened, who was the culprit, and how the cases were solved. It is so fascinating to see how the detectives go about solving the crimes and how science and the forensic part ties into it to help solve the crime.
My name is Chloe Brewer, I'm in MC 4301 3:30pm class, and my favorite show that relates to law and ethics would be "Suits" which is now on Netflix. The show focuses on a team of lawyers conquering different lawsuits and cases, more specifically the main character Mike, who didn't attend law school. It does a great job of showing how lawyers build their case, and shows you don't always have to take the traditional route to achieve your goals.
My name is Gavin Merchant, and I’m in MC4301, the 11:00-12:20 fully in-person class. One of my favorite shows related to law had to be “How to Get Away with Murder”, which I started watching from my sisters/Mom. This Law show was my favorite because it not only was a suspenseful show with a long story in every episode that tied into mysteries, but the show showed how lawyers can exploit loopholes within the judicial system and loopholes in court, to "legally" bail out people who commit murder.
Hi my name is rachel, I will have to say my favorite movie related to law is of course the classic, “Legally Blonde”. I’ve seen all the popular criminal justice shows and movies, but this one i always find myself going back to a few times a year. I think this movie does an incredible job at proving how you don’t have to fit a certain stereotype to become something great. Elle Woods is a character I personally look up to and many others do too.
I forgot to add I am in the online asynchronous class ( MC4301)
Hi, my name is Julianne L, and I’m in MC4301, the 11:00-12:20 fully in-person class. My favorite movie related to law is probably Legally Blonde. In this movie, the main character, Elle Woods, goes from being a sorority girl who is a fashion major, to enrolling into Harvard Law School to initially get back her ex-boyfriend. With everyone completely doubting her career in law, she proves that she is the one to beat and ends up being insanely good with law. This film showcases legal education, challenges, cases, and skills that were learned and used by Woods in the criminal case she fought.
Share with us a favorite book, movie, TV show, song, etc., that is related to law, then tell us why it's your favorite and include a brief summary of the work.
Hello, my name is Hector Santos and I am in Media and Law class at 11 a.m.. The two movies I really like that I watched that have would be "Sully" and "Shattered Glass," both based on real people. "Sully" is about the airline pilot Chesley Sullenberger trying to land the plane filled with passengers safely after one of the engines failed, the movie then focuses on a trial determining whether or not he handled the situation well or if he made risky decisions potentially putting more people in danger. The second movie "Shattered Glass" is about a journalist named Steven Glass that is at risk of losing his job because he is suspected of completely fabricating his recent story that was a big hit.
I forgot to get rid of the first sentence. I am unsure how to fix that.
Hi my name is Sophia Gonzales and I am in the Monday/Wednesday 3:30pm class. Right now my favorite TV show dealing with law is "How To Get Away With Murder". It is a show that follows a group of law school students and how they get mixed up into some bad things that also have to do with their teacher. This is all happening while their in school and still working on cases. I love how this show shows how these people use extravagant loopholes to get their cases won and the lengths they go to.
Hi! My name is Jasmine Lozoya (M/W 11 A.M.). My favorite TV show that is related to law is Law and Order: SVU. Law and Order: SVU is a show that follows detectives of the Special Victims Unit of the NYPD. The SVU specifically is in charge of investigating sexually based crimes across New York. It is my favorite because it is a show that I watched a lot growing up and it has become my go-to background noise when doing homework and cleaning. It was the first show that ever really showed me trials, judges, lawyers, and detectives all in one.
Hi! My name is Adriel Carrasco and I'm in the M/W 3:30 MC 4301 class. One of my favorite works related to law is the album "BRAT" by Charli xcx. This album stands out because of its vibrant color and intense passion in each song, along with meaningful remixes featuring notable artists. The album's release also supports Kamala Harris’s campaign, where Charli xcx tweeted, "Kamala is brat," adding a layer of advocacy and social impact. I appreciate how it combines powerful musical expression with political and social influence, demonstrating how art can intersect with important causes and movements.
Hi, my name is Lauren McGilvray, I enjoy the show "How To Get Away With Murder". This is probably the extent of my interest in law, mostly because it is entangled with a well written plot line. The show is focused around a law class with a super hardcore professor. For me, this show makes me slightly more interested in the process of court cases and how law firms build a case and defend clients. It also touches on the ethics of law and how far the rules can bend behind the scenes.
I am in the 11am class.
Hello everyone, my name is Kaiden S (11:00 AM), and one of my favorite movies that recently came out is the Civil War movie. This movie gives an idea of how a Civil War in the United States would happen in today's age, rather than the previous Civil War in the 1800's. It is a really interesting movie concept because everything has obviously changed significantly from those times, and it gave a perspective of what life could truly be like if this were to happen. Once again, interesting, but also very scary. This is definitely related to law, as states begin to secede from the United Sates and ultimately start defying laws!
That's my piece, have a good day :)
Hello, my name is Alexis Orr (online class). My favorite law related TV show is “Suits” on Netflix. The show follows the lawyers of a New York Law Firm after Mike Ross (not a law school graduate) lands himself a position as a lawyer in the firm. I love the drama that revolves around all of the characters and although it may not be the most accurate law related show, I love the insight it gives into the law world.
My name is Will McCommas (3:30pm) and my favorite law related show is suits. Its a really fast paced show and sometimes takes pausing the show and doing research on what cases they refer to, but i find the way in which they typically explain how their client is innocent or the other defendant guilty extremely in depth. One of my favorite scenes is when the main character is in custody and his lawyer claims "he will rain down 4th amendment claims like hellfire" if he continues to be contained without access to his lawyer.

Hi, my name is Mason S. I'm from the 11am class. My favorite movie relating to law is called Dark Waters starring Mark Ruffalo. The movie is about a lawyer who works for a law firm that works for major chemical companies. Through an old farmer he finds out that one of the chemical companies has been poisoning an entire town by pouring toxic waste into water sources. He follows the case against the advice of his firm and learns some dark secrets.
Hello, my name is Ryan Orr taking the 11 am class. My favorite book regarding law is called blood and money by Thomas Thompson. It is a true crime story following the murder of Joan hill, an equestrian who was raised by a very rich oil businessman, ash hill. The book is about the trial of the alleged murderer, Joan’s then husband who of which was a rich plastic surgeon. Following the process of a trial, there was a hit put out against the plastic surgeon and there was an attempted murder by ash hill. Not to mention, the lawyer presiding the conflict was a very famous Houston lawyer by the name of race horse hanes. I like it because it goes to show what very rich people think they can do as long as they have the money to pay for a good lawyer
Hey, I'm Jace Jowers (3:30 class) and my favorite movie in relation to law is definitely 12 Angry Men (1957) because it was one of the first movies that I saw that showed that it's possible to just make a movie about a bunch of dudes in one room talking about law for an hour and a half completely engaging. Throughout the movie, Henry Fonda's character will bring something about the court case to light that completely shifts the tone in the room, creating really interesting debates among the jurors. Each character is constantly at war with themselves because everyone, except for Fonda, feels it in their gut that the verdict should be guilty, but Fonda's constant doubt starts to worm its way into their heads as well creating a ton of memorable outbursts and discussions amongst the more "passionate" jurors.
Hi! I'm Mikenna P., and I am in the 3:30 class. I recently watched a new true-crime series on Netflix called "Worst Ex Ever". Each episode is based on a true crime story about an ex coming back and causing harm. While they are not extremely long episodes you are still able to gather all of the small details whether it's from an investigator or an in-person interview with the victim. Along with knowing how long they were on the run after committing the crime and how their relationship was before breaking up.
Hi! I'm Hannah, and my favorite book/movie related to law is The Green Mile. Although super sad, this movie follows the life of a wrongfully convicted man with unique abilities on death row, and displays the corruption and racial inequality within the justice system in the 1930's.
Hi I’m Aly D! (I attend the 11am class). A new show I recently watched is called “Worst ex ever” on Netflix. This show is about how one partner in the relationship did something terrible crime wise to the other partner. Each episode is about a new couple and goes into detail about how their relationship played out all of them the police and law is involved because the cases are just that bad. The law being invoked with this because each episode I have watched so far their ex has ended up in jail. There is one episode that can be more related to law in which a women was falsely accused by the police for something that her ex did, she ended up suing the police and winning money.
I have always enjoyed shows like this involving true crime!
Hi my name is Luke Palmer and I'm in the online class. My favorite show that has to do with law is "Better Call Saul". Breaking bad was one of my favorite shows and Saul was such an interesting character. I really enjoyed the show because it revolved around his world of being a lawyer.
This is in my top five movie/books ever!
I'm Andrew from the 3:30 class. While it is technically in the military and deals with military law, I like the criminal case featured in "A Few Good Men." While I know the whole court room drama is played up to draw in an audience over a rather dramatic issue, the movie did help me get a simple idea of how a criminal case could be caried out over the course of several days. It also tackles the moral implications taken in the events that led to the case and for those involved by simply following orders.
Hello, my name is Faith L, I am in the 11am M&W class. I do not watch a lot of law shows/movies but one that I've watched before and I really liked was Legally Blonde. In this movie it is about a sorority girl that has been dumped by her boyfriend & she is down in the dumps then she is convinced to go to Harvard to study law & practice to be a lawyer. Looking at her you wouldn't expect her to be interested in becoming a lawyer, characters in the movie as well had their doubts however, further in the movie she goes against the stereotypes & show that she has the brains and she is able to accomplish more than she thinks. I like this movie because it is funny & has an interesting take on the legal/law field.
Kat Jaime 11:00am class - I don't really have a "favorite" movie that pertains to law, the only one I really found interesting was the movie "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile" about Ted Bundy. Most of this movie was filmed in the courtroom because Bundy represented himself instead of having an attorney to do it for him. Bundy attended law school and was quite knowledgeable, so him representing himself gained a lot of attraction. Clearly this movie is based on a true story. It definitely is not my favorite movie; let's make that clear on that. However it is the only movie that I could think of that pertains to law that I found interesting.
Allister S. Online
My favorite movie about law is The Devils Advocate. It is about a Lawyer (Keanu Reeves) who defends rather suspicious clients for his boss (Al Pacino). It is revealed that Pacino is the Devil and makes an interesting point to how the Justice system can often be flawed and allow for criminals to slip through the cracks with a good enough lawyer. Iv only watched this movie once but I think the acting is amazing. It paints an idea of a literal devil and how he controls evil in the world.
Hi my name is Gracie G and I am in the 11am class. My favorite movie that is related to law is legally blonde. Legally blonde is about a girl who went to law school to chase her ex boyfriend. She struggled at first, but didn't give up and ended up being a lawyer on a case and won the case unexpectedly.
My name is Osmara V. and I’m in the 11:00 am class. One movie I thought was interesting that pertained to law is “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.” This movie is about Ted Bundy and his encounters with the law since he’s on the run from being accused of multiple murders. Throughout the movie, he’s either in a jail cell or in a courtroom. During the courtroom scenes, he would be his own lawyer since he did have experience studying law before he got caught by the police. Obviously, this was based on a true story if this infamous serial killer.
Hey everyone, my name is Maite N. and I am in the 3:30 class. A song that immediately came to my mind is “Hurricane” by Bob Dylan. It is inspired by the wrongful conviction of ‘70s American boxer, Rubin ‘Hurricane’ Carter. The song comments upon the factors that played a role in the way Carter was treated and his process with the law.
I recently watched the show Under The Bridge on Hulu. A 14 year old girl, Rina Virk, goes out with some friends and never returns home, then her body is found in the river days later. The story is told through the lens of author Rebecca Godfrey who tries to uncover the truth and find out what happened to Rina to write her book. The show explores themes of how race may have contributed to Rina's murder and her family's fight for justice.
Nairobi Alford (11am class)
Hi, my name is Candice and I attend the 11 a.m. section of Media Law. My favorite law series is Boston Legal, which is a show that follows a team of lawyers in (you guessed it) Boston, and their wildly entertaining case coverings. It was made in the 80s-90s, and the writing is phenomenal. It showcases real parts of the law but adds in a sense of comedy to keep it rather light-hearted.
Hi! My name is Jordan Sedillo. I’m in the online class. I’d have to say my favorite movie to do with law is “My cousin Vinny”. It is about a lawyer named Vinny, who has never won a court case, but his family members are in trouble with the law and he becomes their lawyer to try to prove that they are innocent of murder. I like this movie because it has a lot of funny moments that I enjoy.
Marcus A, I am in the 11A.M. class. My favorite TV show involving law and one of my favorite TV shows of all time is "The Sopranos" it is a show that follows Tony Soprano and his Italian mafia. It talks about what the main character Tony does to break the law and stay away from going to prison. I love this show because it also follows Tony to his therapist where they talk about his personal life and how some of the decisions he's made or needs to make is affecting him.
Hi!! My name is Amanda M. I am in the 11am class and my favorite movie regarding law is Erin Brockovich. The movie is based on a true story where Erin falls on hard times and becomes a legal assistant. While working she finds a series of medical records and traces the people's illnesses to a California power company that has been polluting the city's water supply for years. She played the sole role in suing this company and helped achieve a large settlement for those affected. I love this movie because Julia Roberts is amazing as Erin and the story is so heartfelt. It showed powerful scenes in court and the work that goes into building a case.
Hi, my name is Luke F. (3:30pm). I don't really watch much law based/related content, but one tv show that comes to mind is Suits. Though it gets a bit repetitive, the concept is that the main character is very smart, but has secretly never been to law school. Each episode involves some form or fashion of court case or legal dispute, and the main character (who is a part a legal company) attempts to find some legal loophole to solve whatever issue is at hand. I like the show because the characters and acting are decent, and while it may be slow at times, each episode builds up the overall story as each season progresses.
Hello, My name is Nikki De Guzman (11a.m. class) One of my favorite show about law that I watched recently was the show “Your Honor” on Netflix. It is a show about a respected judge who is forced to make morally compromising decisions to protect his son after finding out he was involved in a hit and run accident that resulted in the death of another teen.
My favorite TV show right now is Law and Order Special Victims Unit. In the show Manhattan detectives investigate violent crimes and A.D.As prosecute criminals. SVU in relation to law might not be too accurate, but it definitely showcases law.
By Reese Zeigler
Hi! I'm Julia Zeddies, and I am in the online section. My favorite TV show that relates to law is Griselda. It is about Griselda Blanco, a Columbian drug lord who inevitably goes to prison but by the time she gets out, most everyone in her life has been killed. It is a tragic story but also very interesting.
Hi, I'm Calista Marquez (online) I'm a Scorpio carnivore! If you couldn't guess from my intro my favorite film that relates to law is "Legally Blonde". While this might be a basic answer it is one of my all time favorite movies. It is about Elle Woods, a stereotypical sorority girl who goes to law school because of a boy but ends up having a knack for law. In the movie it shows Elles ups and downs while attending Harvard. Before becoming a PR major I wanted to do something that would take me into the court room, in part that was the reason for loving this movie but it is a classic to me!

A favorite show I have watched that is closely related to law and police corruption would be the show "When They See Us". This show is a live series over the true events of the Central City 5 boys who were falsely accused of rape and murder of a white women. The show highlights a glimpse of horror the kids faced when in detention with police and when they had to serve 5-13 years in prison. The police coerced them into lies and beat them until they did so. The 5 were later freed when the true suspect came confessed and linked by DNA. This show is a tear jerker and extremely hard to get through but I think it's important to show people the truth of our governments actions and also work on ways to not go back to that.
Garon U. MW class
My favorite show I’ve been on so far that relates to law is Dexter. A serial killer who does what the Miami police department can’t though legal channels. Basically a serial killer who kills serial killers.
Hi my name is Katherine R and I’m in the 11am class. My favorite show has to be “Breaking Bad.” It’s a story that follows the life of Walter White and his journey as a science teacher living a double life. Walter finds out he has terminal cancer and decides he needs to leave his legacy. He ends becoming a renowned meth cook with his partner Jesse Pinkman. This show explores the law in many aspects. Walter’s brother in law actually works for the DEA, which doesn’t workout in Walter’s favor as a meth cook. Walter and Jesse also get involved with the lawyer Saul Goodman to represent them for when the repercussions of their actions start to get messy. You get to see all ends of the legality of selling and distributing drugs. It is also really makes you think about the morality of Walter and the other characters in this show!
My name is Makayla Wilford (11 am class) and my favorite show related to law would have to be Suits. It follows college-dropout Mike Ross as he works for one of the most prestigious law firms in New York City. After running from a drug deal that went bad, he impressed Harvey Specter with his legal knowledge and photographic memory and was hired on the spot. Hard-nosed Harvey teaches Mike along the way, and Mike's sympathetic nature allows him to connect with clients. Together they work on many tough cases while keeping their secret that Mike never graduated from law school. This show is my favorite because of the storyline, specifically the character development of Mike Ross. As he's learning more about the law, so am I. There's also twists and turns in every episode to keep you engaged.
My name is Ashlyn B from your online class. My favorite show related to law is probably NCIS. I love this show because I grew up watching it with my mom every night before bed. I also just love this crime show because I like trying to figure out who did the crime. It follows investigative service agents as they try to solve case after case. Each episode follows a new case and sometimes they overlap.
My name is Blaine Smith, 3:30 class. My favorite movie is No Country for Old Men. It’s about a cowboy who stumbles upon a bunch of money and a hit man named Anton chighur is sent after him to come collect this lost money. We are shown what lengths the psycho, yet smart hitman will do to get this money back into his possession.
Hi my name is Victoria G (3:30 class) and my favorite tv show relating to law is Criminal Minds. The show goes over so many cases , breaks down crimes and gets into the heads of people doing wrong. One of my favorite songs kind of related to law in a way would be Mark Chapman.
Hello, my name is Kylie Adams (11:00 am class). One of my favorite shows involving the law is “Griselda” on Netflix. The show is inspired by Griselda Blanco, the head of a massive drug ring in Miami and Columbia in the 1970s. Throughout the show, viewers get Griselda’s point of view as well as a DEA member’s point of view who spends ten years tracking Griselda. Spoiler alert, she gets arrested and sentenced to only 15 years! This show is crazy, and I highly recommend reading or watching her story.
Hi! My name is Ximena Garcia, and I am from the 11am class. One of my favorite shows that deals with law is Money Heist by Netflix. The show tells a story of a criminal mastermind named "The Professor" who plans to pull the biggest heist in history by recruiting eight people. In the show, they deal with elite police forces and keep people hostage.
